Library F.A.Q
The PovertyNet Library is an on-line, web accessible library of reports
and documents devoted to poverty in the developing world. The Library
contains a variety of poverty-related documents including technical
reports and papers, abstracts, speeches, interviews and press releases.
How is the PovertyNet library different from the PovertyNet website?
The library serves as a central catalog of the various documents available on the PovertyNet
website. Its goal is to make it easier to find poverty-related documents by allowing users
to browse through them according to related topics, region, country or to search by keywords.
How can I view documents in a specific topic?
To view all the documents for a given topic (i.e. Social Capital), click on
"Social Capital" in the topic list on the right column of the home page. You
will then see the library page for Social Capital, including a navigable list of
all the documents in that topic at the bottom of the page.
Can I see documents related to a region or country?
Yes, you can use the "Browse by" list boxes in the right column of
the home page to view the documents that pertain to a selected region
or country.
Can I use multiple words when performing a search?
Yes, you can separate multiple words with a space and the search
will return results that contain each of those terms.
How can I restrict the search to a given topic, sub-topic, region, or country?
To restrict the scope of a search, you must be on the topic, sub-topic, region, or country
page that you are interested in. The search form will include the option to search
either the entire library or just the page you are viewing.
How do I navigate within the library?
To navigate between pages in the library, you can use the threaded trail found at the top of each
page (except the library home page). The left navigation bar is used to navigate to the appropiate
section of the main PovertyNet site.
How does the "receive document by e-mail" feature work?
You may receive any of the documents in the PovertyNet Library as e-mail
attachments. To request a document, click the "get by e-mail" link or the icon.
In the pop-up window that appears, enter the e-mail address to which you would
like the document sent.
The e-mail message that you will receive will contain instructions explaining how to
view the file. Your e-mail address will be stored by the system for 10 minutes
for your convenience, but then expires and is NOT used or stored permanently in any other way.
